Connected Accounts – Google and Xero Sign-In
Connecting Google or Xero for Sign-In
You can link your Google or Xero account to UpSheets so you can sign in with one click instead of typing your email and password. If your organisation uses one-time passwords for email sign-in, signing in with Google or Xero skips that step – you go straight into UpSheets. This is separate from connecting Xero organisations for uploading data – your Xero organisations stay connected even if you disconnect Xero sign-in.
Select Settings from the menu, then open the Password tab. Scroll down to the Connected Accounts section. Each account (Google and Xero) appears in its own card with the current status and an action button.
Signing in with Google or Xero from the login page will automatically link that account to your UpSheets profile if the email addresses match. You do not need to connect it first in Settings.
Connecting Google
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Open the Password tab.
- In Connected Accounts, find the Google card.
- Click Connect.
- You are sent to Google to authorise UpSheets. Sign in to Google if prompted.
- After you approve access, you are returned to Settings on the Password tab. The Google card now shows Connected.
You can now sign in to UpSheets by clicking the Google sign-in option on the login page. Your email and password will still work if you prefer.
Disconnecting Google
Before disconnecting Google, make sure you have a password set on your UpSheets account. Otherwise you may lock yourself out.
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Open the Password tab.
- In Connected Accounts, find the Google card.
- Click Disconnect.
- A confirmation modal appears. Read the message – it reminds you that you will no longer be able to sign in with Google and that you should have a password set.
- Click Disconnect in the modal to confirm, or Cancel to keep Google connected.
After disconnecting, the card shows Not connected and the Connect button returns. You will need to use email and password to sign in.
If something goes wrong
This Google account is already connected to another UpSheets account.
Each Google account can only be linked to one UpSheets account. If you see this message, the Google account you chose is already linked elsewhere. Use a different Google account or sign in with email and password.
Xero
Connecting Xero for sign-in
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Open the Password tab.
- In Connected Accounts, find the Xero card.
- Click Connect.
- You are sent to Xero to authorise UpSheets. Sign in to Xero if prompted.
- Select the Xero organisation(s) you want to use with UpSheets if asked.
- After you approve access, you are returned to Settings on the Password tab. The Xero card now shows Connected.
You can now sign in to UpSheets by choosing the Xero sign-in option on the login page. Your email and password will still work if you prefer. Your Xero organisations and their data remain connected – this only adds a faster way to sign in.
Disconnecting Xero sign-in
Disconnecting Xero sign-in does not disconnect your Xero organisations. You keep access to all organisations and data. Only the "sign in with Xero" option is removed.
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Open the Password tab.
- In Connected Accounts, find the Xero card.
- Click Disconnect.
- A confirmation modal appears. It explains that you will no longer be able to sign in with Xero, but your Xero organisations and data stay connected.
- Click Disconnect in the modal to confirm, or Cancel to keep Xero sign-in connected.
After disconnecting, the card shows Not connected and the Connect button returns. You will need to use email and password (or Google, if connected) to sign in.
If something goes wrong
This Xero account is already linked to another UpSheets account.
Each Xero account can only be linked to one UpSheets account for sign-in. If you see this message, the Xero account you used is already linked elsewhere. Use a different Xero account or sign in with email and password.
There was a problem adding your Xero organisation.
If you cancel or deny the Xero authorisation, you will see this message. Try again and complete the full authorisation flow in Xero.
